Santa Maria de Badalona is an architectural masterpiece, featuring a single nave with six sections, including the choir. It lacks a transept and has a semicircular and square apse. The nave is flanked by lateral chapels, which are interconnected. The barrel vault ceiling, supported by Corinthian pilasters, separates the nave from the chapels, which are adorned with cross vaults.
The church also boasts a gallery on the first floor, added during the 1940 reconstruction, with curved balconies. Visitors can climb to the bell tower, which stands at an impressive 38 meters. The tower, completed in 1895 in a neoclassical style by Francesc Rogent i Pedrosa, features a clock installed in 1964 and a wrought iron crown adorned with crosses and angels. The tower's bells, replaced after the war, were blessed in 1946 and 1958, with names honoring various saints and figures.
Inside, the presbytery houses the main altar dedicated to the Assumption of Mary, featuring a statue of the Virgin by sculptor Frederic Marès, blessed in 1947. A crucifix consecrated by the Archbishop of Barcelona in 1966 hangs nearby. The altar is decorated with ceramic scenes from the Bible, created by painter Luciano Navarro under the direction of architect Joan Padrós and Jordi Cantó from the Diocesan Commission of Sacred Art. Flanking the Assumption are four paintings of the parish's co-patrons: Saint James, Saint Sebastian, Saint Anastasius, and Saint Roch, painted by Pedro Baos Castellanos between 2022 and 2023.
On the Gospel side, the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, designed by Joan Amigó i Barriga, was reconstructed in 1941. It features a poignant depiction of the Pietà, with the Virgin Mary cradling Jesus at the entrance of the Holy Sepulchre, represented within a cave. The tabernacle is adorned with gold leaf reliefs, and the windows are decorated with stained glass. The chapel also houses a reproduction of a 15th-century Gothic altarpiece dedicated to Saint John the Baptist and Saint Stephen, originally from the Romanesque church and now preserved at the MNAC. A modernist altarpiece depicting the Adoration of the Magi is also present.
The other chapels, directly accessible from the nave, are dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary, Our Lady of Montserrat, Our Lady of Lourdes, Saint Peter, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel, with their altars blessed between 1947 and 1951.
On the Epistle side, the chapels continue, culminating in the Sacred Heart of Jesus altar, blessed in 1952 and crafted by Joan Amigó. The chapels are dedicated to Saint Sebastian, featuring an original altar from 1696, the Holy Christ, Saint Anastasius, Saint Isidore, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The entrance to the choir and bell tower is located here, along with the holy water fonts and the main entrance vestibule, leading to Barberà Square.
