In 1866, the church underwent its first major enlargement under the guidance of Antoine Gaétan Guérinot. This expansion included the addition of two aisles and modifications to the bell tower, completed by the Pascal Franco company by 1868. The architectural innovation of using slender cast iron columns, reminiscent of designs by Louis-Auguste Boileau, added a unique touch to the structure.
