The church, dedicated to Saint Maurice, was completed in 1311, standing as a testament to the enduring spiritual commitment of its founders. Initially, the hermit community remained modest in size, with no more than 20 friars. However, under the leadership of Prior Hans Ulrich Kessler in the late 16th century, the convent experienced a revival.
